Zion and the Greater David

What Zion means to me.

I think probably some of my Israeli friends might take exception to this because Zion is used throughout the Scriptures to indicate Jerusalem. In fact, from its first mention in 2 Samuel 5:7, Zion is specifically designated as Jerusalem.

“Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.”

I want to take that ‘nevertheless’ to say that Jerusalem is the strong hold of Zion, and the same is the city of David – but that is but a seed of revealing how God envisions the ultimate strong hold of Zion as the Kingdom that is ruled by the “greater than David”.

Not only is Jerusalem the place Jesus will return to sit on the Throne ruling the whole earth. But Zion at that time will be the “greater than Jerusalem” ruled by the “greater than David.”

Only in acknowledging the plans God has to restore Israel spiritually, can we enter into the greater Zion that Jesus, Yeshua the Messiah of Israel, shall reign over in all the earth.

Zion and the Greater David continues

As God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”

God’s version of Zion realized is that the remnant of faith in Yeshua from all the nations and from the Jews who are those who are indwelt by the Messiah, spiritually matured to full embrace of each other as well as the Lord, these are what Zion is ultimately about.

Zion is both a geographic location where this vision of God is coronated, and it is also the indwelt people who have the right – given by faith – to be in the Kingdom of God.

It is a great thing to be a Zionist, but it cannot stop with being a political Zionist merely an advocate for the state of Israel – that does not hold a candle to what God envisions and will bring to pass. Some of those will fall by the wayside as events continue to propel us toward the Kingdom of God on the earth as it is in Heaven.

Remember: the first time God lays out His plans, He gives it to us human beings in seed form, like Genesis. That is what the first mention of Zion in 2 Samuel 5:7 is like. Ever since the first mention God has been revealing more and more of what it means to bring us to the full realization of what He has planned for Zion.

Is it any worder that Zionism and Zionist have become a pejorative? Because these are the people who oppose God and are fighting against what He is doing in our days.

I think of many young, idealistic human beings who desire peace in the world, yet have become convinced that means being virulently against for Zionism. How can peace come from their bitter hatred? It can’t.

They have no idea that Zion is the only peace that can prevail on earth, but frankly, most believers in the Son of God from the Davidic line of the Jewish people, don’t have a clue what Zionism really is either.

Is seems to me that the time to awaken to where God is taking us now. To keep resisting what He is planning will only become more hazardous to our spiritual well being.
