    Tears for Fears Performing

    Personal Spiritual Views
on the frame of my music background

Before you think you’ve arrived at the wrong BLOG, I have decided to expand what I include here to some of the things I have been writing about spiritual things that are in step with my personal Music Business Background. I believe many people in the arts industries – movies, acting, writers – are going to begin to awaken to their need for more heart stability that can only be found in the Lord. They are just people.

An unexpected pivot toward Tears for Fears
because I’m tired of just preaching to the choir

On September 14th I wrote on my Facebook page about how music was the major idol in my life when I returned to God in last months of 1983. Music became my life in my teens and by my 20’s I was building my life on the music business.

In the mid 1970’s I worked my way up from concert reviews to become the editor of a concert music industry trade magazine. At times I attended 4 concerts in one week. Even in the few years I did that job, it became a blur all the shows I saw and interviews I did: Billy Joel, Boston, Gino Vanelli, Cheap Trick, Styk, Al Jarreau, Genesis, Journey, Springsteen, Rush, Black Sabbath, The Ramones and even Parliament Funkadelic. Departing that job I loved because of a new boss who wanted favors I was not willing to give, I did promotions at the newly opened Dallas Agora showcasing up and coming artists like Pat Benatar and Dire Straits. Stories. I’ve got a few. I just rarely think on those things.

By 1983 my life was crashing on the rocks of life. That’s when the guy I lived with, a former drummer/lyricist of a 3-piece power rock band signed in 1971 to Capitol Records, was in bad shape due to a degenerative spine disease. It would be that guy, my husband of the last 43 years, Tony, who would drag me back to church in 1983. He was desperate for physical healing. We married within a couple of months before our first visit because I didn’t want church people giving me a hard time about shacking up. I did not yet know that it wasn’t church people I needed to please, it was God.

So we got married and experienced powerful personal touches from God straight off. Both of us, experienced healing and the power of the Holy Spirit sweeping through our bodies. One time sitting there in church Tony felt the Holy Spirit ‘whoosh’ through his body from left to right and at the exact same time I felt the Spirit ‘whoosh’ through my body from right to left. We were stunned and our reaction was to turn in the direction the Spirit had exited our bodies. Our heads jerked in that direction and we were looking at each other in utter shock.

This happened within weeks of starting to attend and neither of us had ever been exposed to anything like that before. These personal touches from God were a powerful witness to us that He is real and we were in the right place. As I wrote in earlier posts:
“I devoured the bible. Read it through 5 times the first year. I read it like I was drowning and it was the only thing that could save me. It was the only thing that saved me.”

“The other thing I did in that first year was to put down my idol of music. I turned the music off, quit listening and quit following what was happening in the business. I went cold turkey to break that idolatry off of my life.

I didn’t start listening to music again until the late 1990’s in another rough spiritual patch I went through because of bitterness and unforgiveness I had stored up in my heart. The music idolatry was gone though.”

Now I include this because many Christians are dead set against popular music. I’m not, as long as it is music appreciation and not idolatry, as it often is. I suspect many are pearl clutching over this article, but think what they will, it is not for their sake that I write.

That’s the set up. It is the background to all the rest of what I write here about Tears for Fears, because on September 14th I wrote something I had almost forgotten. As I wrote:

  • God Judges False gods

There is a consistency in the Bible of how God and His prophets deal with the false gods of the nations, it is in mockery.

There is a consistency in the Bible of how God and His prophets deal with the false gods of the nations, it is in mockery. The point of this study is to say to Christians worried about the ancient gods rising up again in modern times that God is consistent in judging false gods of the people by MOCKING them as He showed how worthless they are to help anyone. The Ten Plagues of Egypt are exactly that, God is mocking false gods by showing the Egyptians gods cannot even protect themselves from the One True God, much less protect Egyptians.

If I were you, seeing how God has judged the false gods of ancient mythologies, I would be far more concerned about recognizing that modern idolatries take modern form, and how will God judge those false idols we worship in our current time?

Arrows from Zion Summary of Prayer Points for Israeli Ministries
Prayer Requests & the Chronicles of the Remnant of Faith in Israel

    SantoroJackie2021 (89 x 85).jpg

Jackie Santoro, Glory of Zion & Ahavat Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem writes, “September 11 marked the beginning of the Fall Feasts as we ushered in Rosh Hashana, known in the Bible as the “Day of the Blowing of the Trumpets”. Traditional Judaism celebrates it as the Jewish New Year (5787) and although blowing the shofars is done throughout the nation, very few people actually know why! I was in the hospital visiting a friend on Sunday which was the second day of the Feast and the first time the shofars could be sounded after the end of Shabbat. One very religious man came into the room and asked if we wanted to hear the shofar. He and his partner were going to every room so that each person could hear.  Of course, we eagerly said “yes“.  I then asked him why was it important for us to hear the blast of the shofar. Amazingly, he didn’t know! He called in the other religious man who was with him and the man answered that it was a call to invite Abba, Father to be King and reign over us. Amen!  May they know Him whom they have pierced and crown Him King in our day!”
         “
June was an intense month with the 7th anniversary of Eddie’s passing, a car accident which totaled my car, my beloved granddaughter moving to Italy for a year, my 80th Birthday and it all culminated with me undergoing Fusion back surgery on July 31. It was a lot emotionally to deal with at one time, but God has brought me through, drawing me ever closer to Him and giving me a new sense of purpose and a hope that will not fade!…I am happy to report that the surgery was very successful and 6 weeks later, I am able to walk with no problems and to drive as much as I want and have returned to life in the fast lane that is Israel and especially Jerusalem! I anticipate so many wonderful things that will be taking place in this special nation in the days to come and I am so honored and privileged to be involved in all that is happening, especially as a part of the leadership team of the congregation which is growing at a rapid rate.
“Our young people are strong, dedicated and full of energy.  And the incredible thing is that they are all sabra Israelis with Hebrew as their mother tongue, not only soldiers in the Israeli army but brave warriors in the army of God, declaring Yeshua their commander and King! Hallelujah! At the same time, the older generation is esteemed and honored and sought after for the wisdom that comes only from the years lived. Ahavat Yeshua is a blessed multigenerational congregation.
         “….
Pray with us that this New Year will see many extraordinary events- from the fall of the evil Iranian regime to a revival that will sweep the earth and especially here in this Land! As always, I thank you for standing with me and encouraging me forward. May we continue to labor together declaring the name of Yeshua to a world desperate for His love. And may we live to see all Israel saved.”

Last issue I told you about an opportunity to join the Tel Aviv congregation Tiferet Yeshua in a special Zoom celebration with their native Israeli leader, Moti Cohen, for the Feast of Trumpets. This will take place on Saturday, Sept 19 at 9pm Israel time, 3 pm Eastern time in the USA.  Here is the link to connect with the meeting. Moti will share a teaching (in Hebrew with translation) about the significance of God’s ordained “times and seasons.” There will also be a time for questions and answers and mutual  prayer.

    BassHowardRandi2_2025 (92 x 80).jpg

Howard & Randi Bass of the Nachalat Yeshua (Yeshua’s Inheritance) congregation in Beer Sheva.Howard writing, “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is near! This, I believe, is the message of the Day of Remembrance of [Trumpet] Blasts/Yom Zicharon Teruah, leading up to the Day of Atonements/Yom haKippurim. This is what John the Baptizer proclaimed in the power of Elijah the prophet; this is what Yeshua/Jesus proclaimed in the love and righteousness of God the Father; this is the great commission that the Lord gave for His disciples to preach until the end of the age… until the Day of YHVH/the LORD.  Yeshua calls the churches to do the same — to whoever has ears to hear.
“….Trumpet blasts have been being heard especially since the reestablishment of the modern State of Israel in 1948 — calling the Jews, and also the nations to remember that there is a God in Heaven and on the Earth, who made the seas and the dry land; calling people everywhere to repent and give Him the glory from their whole being. (Jonah 1)  Self-judgment is essential, as is national repentance, especially on the part of Israel, YHVH God’s chosen nation to bring praise and glory to His holy Name.  (Do you know that the book of Jonah is read in synagogues on Yom Kippur?!)
“….The wars of the last three years up till now are affecting the nations in a way unthinkable before they began (including between Russia and Ukraine!). When they first began, and the way that they have unfolded and expanded threaten the established order.  Antisemitism, anti-Zionism, anti-Jewish and Christian outrage is growing and getting louder, and the political landscape and economies are each going in the wrong direction, as a whole. God is shaking things; He is giving “trumpet blasts” to wake up His own people, first of all; Jesus is fully in control of events, having all authority in Heaven and on Earth!”     DD: To the Jew first, but also to the Gentiles.
Howard also sends wonderful photos of families from Yeshua’s Inheritance enjoying their two days/three nights camping trip from this past Friday through Sonday, corresponding to the Jewish “New Year” holiday here.  . . .we traveled about 3 hours to arrive at the Jordan River Park, located walking distance from Bethsaida, and a ten-minute drive to Capernaum.  We went to those two significant New Testament sites in the life and ministry of Yeshua/Jesus. . . .It was a wonderful and Holy Spirit-blessed trip for the congregation. Most of the members participated, and contributed to the strengthening of the fellowship of the different members of the one congregation. Our time together provided many opportunities to get to know each other better and more personally. There were some very good and significant discussions going on, and fun for all. The young children and teens also became more acquainted with each other. We really have much to thank and praise God for Nachalat Yeshua!
“Many thanks to you for your prayers, support, encouragement for us, and for some of you for a very long time!  There was great cooperation in volunteering for the necessary tasks, such as food preparation and clean-up.  There was some time for praise and worship, some short teachings and testimony, and praying.  A great time was had by all!  When Randi and I finally got back home, we basically plopped down into our beds for the night. 🙂

Chaim Malespin of Aliyah Return Center and the Faithful Galileans sends Day 1062 video update from Chaim “Commandos Restoring Security” from the Lebanon border. | ALSO: “The Day of Atonement is just around the corner. . . .As we draw nearer to this sacred day, there is a deep longing to draw closer to God in holiness. In the midst of our busy lives, it can be difficult to set aside time to seek the Lord. . . .The Day of Atonement offers us an opportunity to pause, reflect, and search our hearts. It is a time for prayer and fasting, for repentance, and for surrendering any resentment we may be carrying. . . .God is full of mercy and grace, and as we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. May His presence bless strengthen, and encourage you as you draw near to Him. And may His truth set you free from anything that entangled you in the past year.”

    DoronReuvenMaryLou2025cropped (111 x 85).jpg

Reuven Doron of One New Man Today in Jerusalem writes, “Today is the biblical Feast of Trumpets. Most people, both in Israel and abroad, call it ROSH HASHANAH. However, as noted in the video above and as most of our readers already know, the ROSH HASHANAH title and associated traditions are mostly man made and the product of Babylonian culture that worked its way into the Jewish exile in Babylon after the destruction of the first temple. We respect our ancient sages and greatly value their contribution to the preservation of our Jewish identity across the difficult centuries of exile and tribulation. However we anchor our convictions in the word of God alone. The bible is clear that our ecclesiastical year starts in the month of the spring just before the Passover as the Lord spoke to Moses. “Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, this month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.” |  WATCH HERE Reuven’s 32-minute teaching on God’s Atonement Power in Your Hands of Yom Kippur, The Day of Atonement | READ First of Nations

    SayagDaniLuAnne2025crop (105 x 75).jpg

Dani & LuAnne Sayag of the Carmel Congregation write, “Our prayer is that this will be a year of the Word of God—a year in which we hunger and thirst for His Word, go deeper in its truth, and draw nearer to the Lord. The sound of the shofar is a call to awaken, to listen, and to turn our hearts toward Him. During this season, may our spiritual ears be open to hear the voice of the Lord and to receive whatever He desires to speak to us—both individually and as a congregation. As the trumpets lead us toward Yom Kippur, may we humble ourselves before Him, allow Him to search our hearts, and respond to His voice with repentance and obedience. May His Word be our foundation, His voice our guide, and His presence our deepest desire throughout this coming year.” WATCH HERE as pastor Dani Sayag teaches on Revival on the Feast of Trumpets

    FieldsofWheatEitanJoelRuby (164 x 100).jpg

Eitan Shishkoff has been leading these Katzir/Harvest Youth Camps for longer than I have known him I think (2002). I can’t remember when Katzir camps were not a major part of ministry at Tents of Mercy, and of course, when Eitan handed off the pastoral role to Avi Tekle, he remained engaged in the Katzir camps, joined by Joel Jelski who has become the Director of the camps and the invaluable help of Christian Arab Ruby Bishai. Eitan’s report on the latest camp is really heartening. They are giving Israeli teens roots deep into the faith, and their young adult counselors too. So many strong believers and leaders have come from these 3 times a year youth camps. It is an equipping camp for those who will lead in Israel’s major spiritual harvest. Worth the investment.  WATCH this VIDEO from the camp and consider becoming a partner in the Chanukah Camp Dec 9-12. Click here for more info.

In the meantime, don’t forget to watch our first video – Avi’s incredible testimony of how he came to know Yeshua as his Messiah:  I refused to be converted!

    GuettaJenniferEliahu2023 (107 x 80).jpg

Jennifer & Eliahu Guetta in the Galilee Plant Hope Israel write about Jennifer’s return from a couple of months in the United States, with “The highlight of my trip was going to Sid Roth to record my testimony and talk about the Feast of Trumpets. The show aired Sep 14 but watch it here on Facebook. So keep an eye out for it online. You can also see my personal behind-the-scenes pictures and video below! We recorded 2 shows, 2 podcasts, and several other media events. It was such a blessing to be back there, and the people are like family.”

Leon and Nina Mazin of the Haifa Return to Zion Center write about Feeding the City Together. This request came in early AM Thursday 9/17 so it is still an active need to fill!  At the official request of the Haifa Municipality, our community has joined an emergency aid program. We are currently regularly assembling and delivering food packages to those who find themselves in difficult life situations: needy families and single people. Although our main target audience is Jewish, in the face of need, the boundaries of nationalities and faiths are erased. The Municipality turned specifically to us, and among the recipients of this aid today are Jews, Christians, and Muslims. We are convinced that kindness and mercy have no nationality, and we cannot remain on the sidelines when our city needs our support.
According to Israeli law, we cannot preach the Word when helping the needy. But the Heart and Light of God cannot be hidden. Please pray with us for our neighbors, that the Trumpet Call of God may enter every heart. To continue this work and purchase food packages for those who truly need them, we need your help. We invite you to become a co-participant in this good work! Every donation of yours is real food on the table for those who have been left to face hardships alone. Helping the city together is strength.

Then, during one of our recent times together with new Olim, our team began sharing personal testimonies and speaking about Yeshua. Anna’s son sat listening quietly, but as he heard what God had done in the lives of others, tears began running down his face. His mother was watching. Something was reaching her children in a way she had not expected.

Rania Sayegh of HOPE (House of Prayer & Exploits) is in the final countdown to their “Arab Deborah’s Arising” conference in Nazareth Oct 2-3. They have 83% of their budget raised, and need $5,200 to underwrite the cost so the precious Christian Arab pastor’s wives, intercessors & daughters of the LORD can come together for again for refreshing, recharging & restoring the LORD’s vision for all the believers in Israel. YanayYouvalValerie2023 (90 x 80).jpg

Youval & Valerie Yanay and the team at Revive Israel  The days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur carry a different weight in Israel. Across the country, people are thinking about repentance, forgiveness, and making things right before the fast begins. For us, these days are also a call to prayer. We come before God asking for His grace and mercy over our people, and we give thanks for the forgiveness and atonement we have received through Yeshua. Our prayer is that hearts across Israel would turn toward the Lord and come to know the Messiah who has made a way for us to draw near to God. Please pray with us:
As Yom Kippur approaches, pray for the people of Israel, that hearts would turn toward God and come to know the forgiveness and mercy found in Yeshua.
Pray for the Almeida family as they travel through Germany and Switzerland, for protection, grace, unity, and fruitful opportunities to share about the Kingdom of God.
Pray for Youval as he teaches believing soldiers and for the young people hearing the Word, that they would be strengthened in their faith.
Thank the Lord for the six young people helping us during this intensive planting season, and pray for blessing over everything planted for the winter.
Pray for the upcoming discipleship program. Thank God for those who have already registered, and ask Him to call and prepare the additional young people He wants to bring.
As Israel prepares to enter Yom Kippur, we are praying for mercy, forgiveness, and revelation over our people. May many come to know the One who has opened the way back to the Father.     Partner with us in prayers and in giving into our ministry work.

    HydeCarolynRichard 2026 (99 x 80).jpg

Carolyn and Richard Hyde of Heart of G-d ministries writes: May you be encouraged by the testimonies and prophetic acts described in the video from the recent PAJ in Jordan and Israel. The King of Israel moved mightily in our midst as we listened to His voice together and then followed His leading. “This was the most challenging and intense PAJ, with the most favor from G-d and the most powerful testimonies!” and “We heard that local pastors in town who’d ceased to meet, now plan to gather for prayer together again!”  Arab and Jew – one new man breaking bread together in communion.

    BenderRonit2026 (84 x 100).jpg

Ronit Bender sends her monthly update from northern Israel with an update of the celebration of Terri Morey’s life last month in northern Israel:  I have never seen a support group like the one for my friend Terri, who graduated last month. It seemed like hundreds were on that group. . . People from around the world prayed, supported, encouraged Eric her beloved husband and Michael her cherished son, who had flown in from the USA. It is easy to say nice things about a person that departs the earth, but in this case, Terri was an exceptional woman of God, who hungered and thirsted for her Maker, and for others to know Him. She was small in stature, but a giant in the Faith. The celebration of her life reflected it and was so special and sensitive and very anointed. She would have loved it. May the many seeds she has sown over the years with Eric sprout and flourish, and may the impact she has had on our lives endure to bear much fruit.
My teeth needed doing, I was directed to a local Russian dentist, Denis, trusted by many believers here. The price even after a discount was 20000 shekels ($6,586). The procedure required I have 10 teeth extracted. It was no picnic. During the procedure, I took comfort knowing that people both local and around the world were praying for me.  What does someone do that does not have this kind of support? For three days, I was toothless, and on the third day I got my dentures. Then, more dentures and crowns in the lower part. The teeth look nice, but my gums are not sure what is going on! My friends around the world contributed and the cost was covered. A big “thank you” to all those of you who helped – and to those who prayed. Please continue to pray for perfect healing.

Asher Intrater, Ariel Blumenthal and Jeremy Similovici of Tikkun Global send these: Asher Intrater VIDEO The Holy Spirit from Creation to Revelation | ARTICLE by Jeremy Similovici The One We Denied Became Our Atonment | VIDEO Ariel Blumenthal God is Love.
On Thursday Sept 17th, Tikkun Global conducted a ZOOM gathering to heed the call of the Feast of Trumpets to awaken, gather, and return to God. Even though I was unable to ‘arrive’ at the beginning of the Zoom (all slots were taken already is what the message told me when I tried to join), I tried again later just in time for the final worship song before Asher Intrater began his teaching. I’m glad I made it through because it re-affirmed the things I believe about where we are in God’s plan and where things are going.
I say that because most of what I hear in the United States from mostly Christian ministries is not what I believe. It’s not only because I have sat under Asher’s teaching for the past 24 years, which I am 100% grateful for, but because this is what I see by the grace of the Holy Spirit in God’s Word too. What he was teaching and what I believe also, is a far, far cry from most of the Christian prophetic & ministry in general is teaching.
As I wrote on the Tikkun Global Facebook page seeking to know if they were going to put the recording of that teaching out, “I saw you were recording it (the Zoom). Will you be sharing the replay? One sentence in Asher’s teaching I missed, and I want to hear exactly what he said.
“The message he was talking about in what is coming – the overtaking of the Harlot by the Beast is exactly what I believe is beginning to unfold here in the United States. I’m pretty alone in my thinking on this – most believe we are going to have a miraculous recovery and get them kicked out in time to save ourselves. (When I say “ourselves” I don’t mean the remnant of faith, but the USA as we know it.)
“I don’t really see that (miraculous victory over Islamists in North America) as far as everything that is prophetically aligned. I think this comes from most others not factoring in Israel as strongly as needed to know where we are in the biblical prophetic buildup.
“If I’m honest, at 75 I am torn between not wanting to be alive for all that, but knowing I’m more mentally prepared and battle hardened that most others I see in denial of what is actually unfolding right now. Texas has a particular problem with how infiltrated we are by stealth jihad all over the state. It is in our neighborhoods all over the state. Anyway, I would like to see the rerun of Asher’s teaching yesterday.”
I don’t think this is just about the United States. The UK and Europe are even farther along in the struggle between the Harlot and the Beast, and the Harlot is losing that battle. The Remnant of Faith that goes through these times have great promises of supernatural power and help too. There will be victory, but it will be the return of Messiah of Israel that ultimately gives us the final victory.

  • Ishtar is Mythos

The chicken feet of the “goddess” Ishtar standing on two lions.

I’m a believer in the steadily increasing reveal of God in the Bible. I would use the word “progressive” if politics hadn’t given it a negative connotation. The concept is simple, our mysterious God has allowed Himself to be only fully revealed over a long period of His dealings with human beings. He created us for a purpose and He is taking His time seeing which of us suit His purpose to be His family. It all starts in Eden with the first man and woman.

Genesis is the “seed bed” for the intents and purposes of God that He steadily reveals throughout the scriptures. Yeshua, Jesus in His earthly ministry, as John put it, was “the Word made flesh.” I could spend hours continuing to develop how God’s intention was not just to bring forth a human being who embodied the Divine attributes and ways completely, but God’s purposes in Yeshua were that He was to stand as the measure, or example, for ALL of us human beings indwelt by the Holy Spirit giving us the power to transform into the likeness of Yeshua/Jesus. This is the steadily increasing reveal of Messiah in us – the hope of glory.

As I said, I could camp out on this theme for hours, but my intent this morning is to go back to the questions I have raised about Jonathan Cahn’s books depicting ancient gods and goddesses as demonic entities, and an ancient temple of Zeus as the throne of Satan mentioned in the book of Revelation.

I am not trying to flog Cahn, but I do believe this is an issue that is not just hair-splitting over theology.

  • Satan’s Altar

There is a lot of news coverage of the man who attacked Christian Messianic Jewish fiction writer, Jonathan Cahn on an airplane this week. There are some things that need to be said, lest we take this incident as proof of what Cahn’s fictional books propose. Those things do not line up with the biblical testimony, to which all of our faith convictions must align. – Donna Diorio

Excavated from a hillside in Turkey in 1870 and 1886 and shipped to Berlin, this large-scale
reproduction of the western facade stands in the Pergamon Museum. It uses a combination of original marble fragments and modern restorations. It was originally built in the first half of 2nd century BCE most likely 170 BCE. The monument consisted of a high U-shaped podium with a continuous high-relief frieze (the Giantomachy).
The Giantomachy was told to be a great and brutal war in Greek mythology between the Olympian gods battling giants. Some of the giants depicted with serpentine lower bodies. The original altar platform and some foundations remain on the hillside of Bergama, Turkey. The identification of this altar claimed by some to be the “throne of Satan” referred to in Revelation 2 is a popular but scholarly debated interpretation rather than a proven fact.
It is also known as the Great Altar of Zeus, a ‘god’ of Greek mythology.

“I am the LORD/YHVH, and there is no other; there is no God but Me.
I will equip you for battle, though you have not known Me,
so that all may know, from where the sun rises to where it sets,
that there is none but Me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.”
    Isaiah 45:5-6

Sept 9, 2026: Satan sits on the throne of idolatry in the hearts of mankind and it is the demonic spirit of idolatry we are really dealing with both in America and throughout the world. Forget about the physical altar of Pergamos – it has no magical demonic powers attached to it. It is the demonic spirits controlling the hearts of human beings that is the spiritual warfare we fight.

It is the spirit of idolatry that expressed itself in ancient times as worship of mythological gods and goddesses that now expresses itself in a myriad of modern expressions from entertainment and sports stars to good old-fashioned greed for wealth.

It is the spirit of idolatry that the Revelation letter to Pergamus was addressing, not a geographical location.
The geographical location of the church in Pergamus was important only because it was the epicenter of Greek mythology. Even the name Pergamus is from Greek mythology because it was the name of a mythological son of a couple of mythological parents Neoptolemus and Andromache.

  • The Waze or The Way?

Guest Column by Israeli born, Messianic Jewish leader, Guy Cohen.
Born and raised in Acco where he pastors the Harvest of Asher congregation
in the land given to the tribe of Asher.

Last month, while we were traveling in Poland, we had an experience that stayed with me.

One evening we entered an address into Waze and followed the directions. It was already late, completely dark, there was almost no one around, and the signal was weak. Then Waze told us, “You have arrived.”

    But we hadn’t.

We were close, maybe very close, but we still didn’t know where to go.

Only when we managed to contact the owner, someone who actually lived there and knew the area, did we get the final directions that brought us to the right place.

Since then, I’ve been thinking about that experience in a spiritual way.

  • Blind spots in the Body

Sept 4 2026: I wasn’t seduced by Judaizers! It’s just the Bible, man!

Like there has been a timing on Jews being able to see their Messiah (God’s timing!) there is also a timing for Christians to be able to recognize God’s ongoing purposes for Israel. It is exactly as Jesus already told us (Acts 1:6-7):

“So when they came together, they asked Him, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority.

My article from July 5, 2011 originally posted on my Fruit of the Fig Tree blog

When Martin Luther emerged as a groundbreaking man of faith after nailing his 95 Theses on the door of the Church in 1517, he also believed that God would return salvation to the Jews. In 1514 Luther wrote: “Conversion of the Jews will be the work of God alone operating from within, and not of man working — or rather playing — from without.”

He had that partially right. We can’t make anyone see if God has not given them eyes to see. God has to give the revelation to every man – Jew or Gentile – before they can see Jesus. Luther was completely right when he said that God would return salvation to the Jews.

The last nine years of his life though, Luther had become a bitter Christian anti-Semite, penning his infamous treatise, On the Jews and Their Lies. Apparently Luther came to resent the Jews for not appreciating his position advocating for them. I guess he expected the Jews to be more responsive to him because he was not antagonistic toward them for their rejection of Jesus.

He understood that salvation comes by a revelation of Yeshua that only God can give a person, but what Luther did not understand is that there is a plan of God in operation. In other words, a plan that has a specific time table.

  • Israel’s Harvest Season

Listen and hear My voice. Pay attention and hear what I say.
    Isaiah 28:23-29

It really grieves me when anointed Christians cannot see the plain word of God in their Bibles about His love and commitment to the Jews and the restoration of Israel even spiritual restoration by faith through the ONLY Door that exists to any of us: the Door of Yeshua, Jesus.

I thank God that He let me in on that understanding early. That I didn’t have to wrestle with God over that question of His faithfulness to them I saw it in every page of Isaiah that I read in 1984 – and it was easy for me to receive because I didn’t have teaching against Israel in my earliest exposure to the Bible stories and to Jesus.

Others have come up in churches that taught ‘God is done with Israel!’ Always behind that statement is a conceited arrogance about how much better gentiles are than jews were. It is a poor grasp of history that can manage to believe that. But many do, and they aren’t all low IQ people who just don’t know any better either.

Many highly educated, theologian-class believers have educated themselves right out of the faith I saw and grasped hold of reading in the Bible of how God purposed not to let go of Israel, but faithfully restore them by faith.

There is a truth that Jesus told His followers in Acts 1:6-7. The truth is about WHEN, NOT IF God will restore the kingdom to Israel. Maybe it is better said, when will God restore Israel to the Kingdom. That’s what it really is about.

The High Holy Days begin with the Blowing of Trumpets
in the appointed Feasts of the LORD Leviticus 23
A perfect opportunity for you to share in the observance
with the Tel Aviv Tiferet Yeshua Congregation
Saturday Sept 19 Israel Time and 2 PM US/Eastern Standard Time

We are moving into the High Holidays when everyone is busy, busy in Israel with holiday preparations with families and congregations, visitors to Israel, distribution of humanitarian aid to new immigransts, the needy and Holocaust survivors. I wanted to send out this early notice of the approaching holidays so you can lock in how you would like to be a participant with some of the Israeli ministries who will be doing special online events like this Zoom from the heart of Tiferet Yeshua in Tel Aviv.
The spiritual meaning of the Feast of Trumpets is not just about what happened in the past, it is about what is going to happen in the future – maybe even in our own time. Details in the first report below.

Arrows from Zion Summary of Prayer Points for Israeli Ministries
Prayer Requests & the Chronicles of the Remnant of Faith in Israel

    CohenMoti2025 (61 x 80).jpg

Moti Cohen, native Israeli who leads the Tiferet Yeshua congregation in Tel Aviv (Zoom invitation above) The team writes, “In a little over a week, here in Israel and in Jewish communities around the world, the shofar will sound as we observe the Day of Trumpeting (commonly called Rosh HaShanah). God gave the children of Israel the biblical high holidays as a guidepost for His times and seasons by which they ordered their lives practically and spiritually. For us today, the high holidays are an invitation from God to slow down from our routines, to examine our lives and to seek His face.      “Mark your calendar and join us for this special time to hear a teaching from Moti about the significance of God’s ordained “times and seasons.” We will also have a question and answer time and mutual prayer. We look forward to seeing you then!”

Guy Cohen, another native Israeli here with wife Tali, leads the far northern port city of Acco’s Harvest of Asher congregation. It gets its name from being in the parcel of land that was given to the tribe of Asher. Guy also teaches on The Feast of Trumpets: When the People Once Again Encounter the Word of God  “In Nehemiah 8, we encounter a special moment in the history of Israel. The people have returned from exile, the walls of Jerusalem have been rebuilt, and now the time has come for a deeper restoration, the restoration of the heart and of their relationship with God. (Sound familiar? Read it online) Nehemiah 8:2, Leviticus 23:24 and Numbers 29:1 – “At the center of the story is the renewed encounter of the people with the Word of God. . . . But the Day of Trumpets also turns our eyes toward the future. Yeshua spoke about the day when He will return and gather His chosen ones: “He will send His angels with a great trumpet, and they will gather His elect” (Matthew 24:31). Paul describes the same hope: “The trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised” (1 Corinthians 15:52), and also, “The Lord Himself will descend from heaven… with the trumpet of God” (1 Thessalonians 4:16).”

Here is a wonderful resource from Israel Pochtar, here with his wife Vicki, from the Ashdod Beit Hallel Congregation. Pastor Pochtar has been sharing these powerful Hebrew Word inspirational teachings for a long time, but I’ve never had space to share them. Now you can visit their website here and feast at the banqueting table of the meanings biblical words in Hebrew. I loved this one: Lev Tahor – a clean heart.
VIDEO Exhortation from Israel Pochtar The God Who Waits to Be Gracious | VIDEO When Idols Fall and the Gospel Rises: Standing here in Ashdod, it is remarkable to realize how many layers of biblical history are beneath our feet. This is a city where the Philistines once carried the Ark of the Covenant as a trophy of victory, believing they had defeated not only Israel, but Israel’s God. Centuries later, the same city appears again in the New Testament—this time not as the place where an idol stood before the Ark, but as a place where the Gospel was being proclaimed….Scripture declares the same truth: God is greater…| Still Room: Bringing Israelis to the Galilee to Hear the Gospel – There is a particular feeling in Israel as Rosh HaShanah and Sukkot draw near. Families begin preparing, tables will soon fill, and across the country we enter a season woven deeply into the biblical story of our people—a time that naturally turns hearts toward what has been, what lies ahead, and the faithfulness of God through generations. |
Alyona’s testimony | When Men Pray for One Another: Stronger Together | When God Says, “I Myself” – There are seasons when we become painfully aware of everything in our lives that still needs to change. . . .Again and again, God draws our attention away from what we can accomplish and back to who He is. MizrachiAviChaya2025 (69 x 80).jpg

Avi Mizrachi, here with wife Chaya, leads Dugit Ministries in Tel Aviv tells us why their outreach HaOgen café is so important: Because café culture is such a central part of Life in Tel Aviv. In Tel Aviv, cafés are much more than a place to grab a cup of coffee. They are where people meet, work, think, talk, connect, and spend time together. Tel Aviv is a young, fast-paced city and one of Israel’s main high-tech hubs. Many people work remotely or hold meetings outside the office, so it is completely normal to see business meetings taking place over coffee. You’ll find young professionals and students working on their laptops, entrepreneurs discussing their next idea, friends catching up between meetings, and mothers on maternity leave meeting together with their babies.
Over the years, we have seen how naturally questions about faith, God, the Bible, and Yeshua can come up around a table. Our desire is for HaOgen to be a welcoming place where people feel comfortable staying, talking, asking questions, and building relationships – and where we can openly share the Good News of Yeshua with those who are searching.
This is why the renovation is so much more than a fresh coat of paint or new furniture. We are preparing a space that we pray will serve as a light in the heart of Tel Aviv for many years to come. There is still more work ahead, but every step brings us closer to reopening the doors and welcoming people back in. Please pray for the renovation process, the serving team and everyone who will walk through our doors. Donations here for our renovation.

Chaim Malespin of the Aliyah Return Center gives tribute in Honoring a pioneer of Israel – Terri Morey. He writes, “When I first moved to the Galilee, after growing up in the center of Israel, I had only a few connections. I arrived with my dear wife and baby son, and a heart passionate to help new olim thrive in Israel. This incredible couple, Eric and Terri, opened up their arms wide and helped us get acquainted with the new area and build the ARC. Both of them made Aliyah from California and were just as, or maybe more, excited about Aliyah. Almost immediately, we would gather weekly to pray for those making Aliyah.

    FieldsofWheatEitanJoelRuby (164 x 100).jpg

Ruby Bishai gives the Fields of Wheat report for the recent Katzir youth camp, and one of the messages he gave to the teens is one that we all need: Who defines your Identity? he Traditional view of identity looks outside of ourselves to tell us who we are. In this view our family, community, social expectations, or culture create our identity. The Modern view of identity tells us to do the opposite: look inside ourselves, discover our deepest desires, and then build our identity around them. But both approaches can leave us carrying an enormous burden.
If my value comes from the approval of the people around me, what happens when they are disappointed in me? And if I am responsible for creating my own identity and proving my own worth, what happens when I fail, change, or simply don’t feel like I am enough?
The Gospel gives us another answer. Our identity in Yeshua is not something we achieve. It is something we receive!
Seven teenagers made the decision to give their lives to Jesus during the camp! We are deeply grateful for what God did during these days….Our hope is not simply that they would remember a great week at camp, but that years from now they would still remember this truth: I do not have to create my own worth. I do not have to earn my identity. In Yeshua, I am known, loved, and called by God.
You have a part in this story. Will you pray for them and donate to the work we do.

    BassHowardRandi2_2025 (92 x 80).jpg

Howard Bass of Nachalat Yeshua/Yeshua’s Inheritance in Beer Sheva writes “There is a spiritual veil over the children of Israel/the Jewish people regarding the truth of the Messiah and Lord being Yeshua/Jesus, and regarding the mystery of the gospel which makes both Jews and Gentiles equal in God’s eyes as to intrinsic worth:  all are sinners for whom Messiah/Christ died; and for all who are saved among both there is total equality for the inheritance from the Father of eternal life and the Kingdom of God. (2Cor 3:7-18)  There is also a veil over the nations regarding the truth of YHVH God — the one true living God — and the unique calling and relationship of Israel the nation and of the Jewish people. (Is 25:6-9)  Repentance from unbelief, to belief in the true gospel opens the eyes of the blind! …  Yet, as we learn from the experience of Cornelius, they need a Peter to go tell them how to be saved!
Howard also writes about a ‘camp’ of sorts too – the Coordinating Committee met for the Sitting At Yeshua’s Feet gatherings of Israeli Messianic ministry leaders. Along with their wives, they met  “in the northern western Galilee, in a Muslim Arab village, to enjoy a day of fellowship in a field owned by one of the committee members, Anis Barhoum, and his wife Nawal.  We even planted a guava tree in the field, and ate the fruit of Anis and his family’s wonderful and whole-hearted loving hospitality.  SAYF is a national leadership prayer retreat of Jewish, Arab, and “others”, held twice a year, usually in the Negev at Sde Boker.  We have doing this since 2000, through intifadas and wars among our peoples, both within Israel, and from outside.  It is a testing of our commitment to the Lord’s new commandment to love one another (among the brothers and sisters in the faith) as He has loved us, and to strive to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, wanting to be in the answer of the Father to our Lord’s prayer for unity and love among us even as He and the Father are one.  Totally supernatural and divine!

    DoronReuvenMaryLou2025cropped (111 x 85).jpg

Reuven Doron of One New Man Today sends this good news about updating his book, One New Man, and here is a taste: “The First of Nations | “The apostle Paul was the main father figure for the first generation of Gentile believers who were drawn from pagan idol infested backgrounds into the true Faith of the God of Israel. Instructing these young believers (who were just born again) about their New Identity in Messiah, the Jewish apostle felt it was necessary to remind them of their natural origins. In fact, Paul did not mince words as he reminded his spiritual children in Ephesus that not too long ago they were still (1) without Christ… (2) aliens from the commonwealth of Israel… (3) strangers from the covenants of promise, (4) having no hope and (5) without God in the world. Ouch!     These Gentile believers were the “Wild Olive Branches” that were (and still are) grafted, by faith, into the “Cultured Olive Tree” of God. (Romans 11). Welcome home!
“First of Nations” chapter from our freshly re-written ONE NEW MAN book. If you would like to get this in an ebook for FREE, just go to Reuven’s website and sign up for his weekly prayer letter. I can highly recommend both the book & the prayer letter.  Watch this VIDEO and hear new things you may have never thought about directly from the pages of Bible.

In an earlier prayer letter, Reuven wrote:  “Asaf, who was King David’s national worship leader, wrote this Psalm (46). He describes his perspective of the nation’s spiritual condition, giving us an insight into the Hebraic mind of the authors of the biblical text. Asaf points to four different “levels” of spiritual maturity which he describes as JUDAH, ISRAEL, SALEM, and Zion. Each “level” grants its own rewards, yet ultimate victory is available ONLY IN ZION. Shiffsally2019 (81 x 85).jpg

Sally Shiff my friend at the Kfar Saba HaMaayan congregation sends a brief update: “Our Feast of Trumpets (Yom HaTruah/Rosh Hashanah) begins on Sept 11th. Which is the same day as the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I cannot help but think this is not a coincidence. My heart is very concerned about the United States and her current condition, almost like a spiritual civil war. I am praying for the intercessors and the entire United States church to rise up and pray for America. Pray for God’s truth and discernment according to the Bible, I saw even within the church, division. Allowing politics to rise above God’s ways.
After Rosh Hashanah, 10 days later is the holiest day of the Jewish year, Yom Kippur (day of Atonement). The entire nation shuts down to fast and pray. To seek God. Mandated in Leviticus 23:26 -32…. 32 “It shall be to you a sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath.” And it is still honored today, not only in the nation of Israel, but throughout the entire Jewish nation.
For the four days in between the two holidays, we at Hamaayan spend each evening praying for a specific subject: Deeper relationship, repentance before Yeshua and forgive others | strengthening of marriages and families | Salvation of family members and friends and the nation of Israel. | Protection of Israel from our enemies (not only physical, but spiritually as well)| and for Hamaayan, for God to strengthen our call, direct our leaders and members. Make contact with Sally through this email.
